Example of Reading Comprehension Test (Double
Passage) This is a talk on “How to Maintain a Frugal
The talk was delivered
by a social activist Ms. Nora Tentillton at the
inaugural ceremony of a community living center.
According to Ms. Tentillton, the world today is
facing a meltdown due to the fact that frugal living
has not been adopted by many around the world. The
depleting resources around the world are a perfect
example of this. There are many ways that you can
live frugally and to begin the first step toward a
frugal lifestyle is to start living it.
Ms. T goes on to elaborate ways in which one can
make their lifestyle frugal.
First is to identify the areas where you tend to
overspend or spend unnecessarily. Spending in these
areas can be either avoided or cut down. There are
ways to identify this over- expenditure and one of
the ways is to make a list every time you go
shopping. And above all stick to that list and never
ever buy anything that is not on it. And above all
collect as many coupons as possible and use them
before they become invalid. There are annuals sales
for clothes, toys and other commodities which can be
very useful when you want to save money.
Secondly make sure you pay your entire utility bills
on time and online so you don’t make the mistake of
forgetting the date and pay the penalty for late
payment. Also online payments help to save up on the
expense on conveyance.
Another common factor where you see imprudent
expenditure is in the living room. Check out and see
how you can de-clutter your home and get rid of all
the extra furniture and curios that you might have
collected over the years. Advertisements are
tempting but you should never give in to it. An idea
of de-cluttering can start right in the living where
if you already have sofas or couches, don’t increase
the seating by adding bean bags to it. They might be
comfortable but it would not be sensible to spend
